Capoeira Fitness Tip of the Week

This feature is designed to give you functional training tools for your off days when you are not training capoeira.  We will be looking at various excercises, tools, and resources that we will have as resources for you to devise a strategy for your overall physical development as a capoeirista.

The goals will be:

Overall Physical Health

Promoting Longevity

Improved Performance in your capoeira training and game

Here we look at weight or force and its impact on the body.  We are using a video that talks about excess weight on the joints.  Thankfully, having something like capoeira as a regular activity in your life means excess weight will likely be much less of an issue for you, so the lesson applies in another way.

Good form or technique as you do your capoeira movements is essential to longevity in the art, in anything really.  For example, we talk about how in armada or cocorinha, there are ways to lighten the load on your knees.  This video shows how force can travel through the body all the way down to your feet, and affects all the joints along the way.

Enjoy!
